Open Letter to Women

My sisters, men are not protectors. Stop expecting them to be. They have claimed every role instinctive to women–provider, protector, stabilizing force–as their own and have failed miserably to deliver on any of it. By and large, they’re not only incapable of it, they’re unwilling. If they were, rape culture wouldn’t be a thing.

The vast majority of men care more about fitting in with other men than they do about the safety of women and children. If you need proof of that, you need only to look at their votes for Trump and their lack of outrage over the Epstein files, the rape academy, and now the Cornell 7. Their lack of both outrage and action can fill a thick history book.

In no other species does prey turn to predator for protection. Our defense is up to us, and the sooner we wake up to that and start protecting ourselves, our children, and each other by whatever force necessary, the better.

Men: When Black people talk about the awful things they’ve experienced at the hands of white people, and they express upset at how few whites use their privilege to make change, I, a white woman, don’t get offended because I know my actions and I know they’re not talking about me. So it is with you when women talk about harm inflicted upon them by men and men’s ineffectiveness at change. If you’re bristling at anything I’ve said, you’re who I’m talking about, your comment will be deleted, and you will be blocked.

This was not the way I wanted to start Horrordailies, but it needed to be said. Sometimes, you need to discuss the horrors of reality.
